The County Court at Law No. 2 of Kaufman County was created by the Legislature of the State of Texas in 2005. David A. Lewis was elected Judge of the County Court at Law No. 2 in November of 2006, and took office January 1, 2007

Judge Lewis obtained his BBA and JD from the University of Texas at Austin. He began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Kaufman (1974-77), and then became the City Attorney in Terrell (1979-84). Judge Lewis opened his private practice in Terrell in 1984, and remained there until being elected Judge in 2006

Judge Lewis's mission statement from law school - to act in a fair manner with emphasis on personal integrity, professional competence and judicial temperament; to treat all persons before the court with courtesy and respect, and to leave all the parties with the belief that they had a fair day in court, win or lose.
