Wayne Gent is a Kaufman Native .  He graduated from Kaufman High School, got his BBA at Texas Tech University and his JD of Law at South Texas College of Law. He has served as Kaufman County Judge for fifteen years although not consecutively.  He practiced law for twenty-four years and served as a special judge for twelve years.

Judge Gent was a United States Marine as a Scout Sniper and was awarded the Purple Heart during the Vietnam War.

Judge Gent was re-elected in November 2006 and is involved in the community and has served as President of the North Texas Council of Governments and as President of the North and East Texas County Judges & Commissioners Association.
