Kaufman County Purchasing Department
The Purchasing Agent acts an expenditure control function, responsible for supervising the contracting authority of the County and ensuring compliance with the County Purchasing Act. The County’s Purchasing Office exists to provide the best service possible to all County Departments in a fair and equitable manner and to protect the interests of the Kaufman County taxpayers in all expenditures. Included in this responsibility is assuring fair and equitable treatment to all vendors without regard to political pressure or discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, handicap, or sex.

The Kaufman County Purchasing Agent is responsible to direct and oversee the county procurement process for all elected and appointed officials. Your Purchasing Office is the "single point of contact" for doing business with Kaufman County. The office is overseen by a Purchasing Agent who is appointed by the Kaufman County Purchasing Board. This board is comprised of Kaufman County's three District Judges, and the County Judge. Kaufman County purchasing procedures are governed by Texas statutes, Local Government Code, Chapter 262. These statutes, including the interpretation of them made by Texas courts, are the ultimate authority on the validity of purchasing procedures. The Purchasing Agent of Kaufman County is responsible for purchasing all supplies, materials, and equipment required or used, and contract for repairs to property used by the County and supervises all purchases and contracts required by law to be made on competitive bid. The Purchasing Agent maintains and tracks all inventory, manages surplus inventory, and disposes of all excess, obsolete or unserviceable equipment by auction, or other mean as provided by law.
