Annual Requirement for Pet Vaccinations Changes

Pet Vaccinations

Click HERE to read the new rules:

On March 28, 2023, the Kaufman County Commissioners' Court updated the annual rabies vaccine/booster to the time frame recommended by the manufacturer of the vaccine by amending the Animal Control Order changing the annual requirement for a rabies vaccine/booster to be based on the recommendation of the manufacturer of the vaccine/booster.

Previously the order required the owner/custodian of a dog or cat over four months of age to provide a rabies vaccine/booster every 12 months. The current Texas Department of State Health Services requirement allows a rabies vaccination schedule based on the recommendation of the manufacturer of the vaccine/booster.

To determine what the new schedule recommendation is for your chosen vaccination, please consult your veterinarian or animal health care provider.
