Primary Function of a Constable:
A primary task of the Constable's Office is to serve legal documents as required by the local civil court system. One example of such documents is a citation that indicates intent to sue. Property owners use constables to help evict tenants who have not paid rent. Constables may also serve subpoenas issued by the court. While most of a constable’s work involves civil cases, they might also work with the criminal court system. Since the constable is an officer of the local court, any legal documents to be served outside the home jurisdiction will be distributed out to constables in the jurisdiction where they are to be served.
