Free Smoke Alarm Installation Program

Working smoke alarms are one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your family in the event of a fire. Homes with working smoke alarms provide early warning, giving everyone more time to safely escape. 

Through a partnership with the American Red Cross, eligible Kaufman County residents can request a FREE smoke alarm installation for their home.  

Residents of Kaufman County who need working smoke alarms in their home are encouraged to apply. 

Getting started is easy!

Fire Safety Tips 

  • Test your smoke alarms every month. 
  • Replace batteries as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Replace smoke alarms every 10 years.
  • Create and practice a home fire escape plan with everyone in your household.
