Hazard Mitigation Action Plan

Kaufman County, in coordination with local jurisdictions and community partners, is in the process of updating its Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. This plan is an important tool used to identify natural and human-caused hazards that may affect our communities, assess vulnerabilities, and develop long-term strategies to reduce risks and strengthen resilience.

Hazard mitigation panning helps communities lessen the impacts of disasters such as flooding, severe storms, winter weather, wildfires, and other hazards identifying practical projects and actions that can protect lives, property, and critical infrastructure.

As part of this planning process, public participation is essential. Community members provide valuable insight into local concerns, hazard experiences, and areas that may need additional attention. Public input helps ensure the plan reflects the needs and priorities of those who live and work in Kaufman County.

We invite all residents, business owners, and stakeholders to attend one of our upcoming public meetings to learn more about the Hazard Mitigation Plan and share feedback.
