Investigators

District Attorney Investigators in Kaufman County are licensed peace officers under Chapter 2.12 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure and hold a TCOLE Master Peace Officer Certification. Assigned throughout the District Attorney’s Office, they support prosecutors by conducting independent investigations, interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence, and running background checks using NCIC/TCIC. They serve subpoenas and writs, assist in organizing and preparing cases for trial, and help ensure witness attendance. Investigators may assist in jury selection, prepare warrants, reconstruct events, testify in court, respond to crime scenes, and provide courtroom security. Their work supports justice through professionalism, independence, and collaboration.
